SALVI (Septentrionale Americanum Latinitatis Vivae Institutum, or North American Institute for Living Latin Studies) proudly presents Iter Romanum—a full-immersion Latin week in Rome.
Program Dates: July 1-8, 2010.
Eligibility: You are eligible to participate in Iter Romanum if you have already learned Latin on paper (at a minimum the equivalent of two years of traditional college-level or four years of a high school Latin program) and are an alumna/us of at least one full-immersion Latin workshop. It is not necessary to have completed a SALVI-run Rusticatio; alumnae/i of other Latin workshops (Father Reginald Foster's Schola Aestiva, the Conventiculm Vasintoniense or Kentuckiense, etc.) are most welcome. The important thing is that you have had some previous experience speaking Latin in an extended workshop setting. If you have not had previous experience, you will be considered only if you can demonstrate comparable experience and/or provide a letter of recommendation from an experienced speaker of Latin who can attest to your qualifications and preparedness to be a full participant in the program.
Location: We will reside at the Ospizio Salesiano Sacro Cuore.
Itinerary (subject to change): Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and Circus Maximus, Domus Aurea, Colosseum, St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican necropolis and the tomb of St. Peter, Vatican Museum, Villa Borghese, Ostia Antica.
Costs: $1600.00 per person, covering registration, reading materials, museum and site entrance fees, transportation for any tour-related activities, lodging, breakfast and one other meal per day (usually dinner). Not covered in the registration cost are: travel to/from Rome, ground transportation to/from airports, one meal per day (usually lunch), snacks, alcoholic beverages (i.e., wine or beer with meals). There is no application fee, but a non-refundable deposit of $200 is required with your application in order to hold your space in the trip. The full tuition balance will be due on March 1, 2010. If you apply after March 1st and there is still room on the trip, payment in full will be due immediately. Applications will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis.
If we do not have 12 participants paid in full by March 1st, the trip will be cancelled and all deposits and fees will be refunded. We highly recommend that you wait to hear from us with confirmation that the trip is going ahead before making your travel arrangements to Rome. If we reach our minimum number of paid-in-full participants before March 1st, 2010, we will notify you right away so you can begin booking travel. Please be advised, however, that we may not be able to provide this information until the final deadline of March 1, 2010.

Submitting an application does not guarantee admission to Iter Romanum. Students will be notified of acceptance after a review of their application. Invariably there are more qualified applicants than there are spaces, so the earlier you submit your application the better.
All admitted participants will complete a more detailed health questionnaire one month before the trip and will be required to sign a liability waiver for insurance purposes. We will also provide a media release form asking participants' consent to use any and all photos and video taken at Iter Romanum for use on our website and/or for other promotional purposes. Any of these forms may be requested in advance.
